Argus C44/C44R Manual:  Focusing Your Camera

To focus the camera, look through the eyepiece on the back of the camera. Turn the rangefinder dial back and forth as you look at the subject you want to take a picture of. You should see two images of the subject, one that is tinted, that move apart and come together as you turn the dial. When you turn the dial so that the two images come together, the camera is focused on the subject.

You can also focus the camera by simply turning the rangefinder dial until the index mark on the lens points to the distance to your subject on the distance scale.

To find the range of focus ('depth of field') you will have in a picture, first focus on the subject with the rangefinder. Now look on both sides of the distance scale index mark for the lens aperture you are using. Directly below these aperture numbers will be shown the near and far limits of sharp focus.
